Spydiewiki.com

“Now, what’s that?” You might ask yourself. A couple of months ago I added a link to spydiewiki.com to the links-panel of my site but it didn’t get as much attention as the rest of the links there. Therefore I thought it might be good to write a little bit about it here so that it doesn’t stay mainly unnoticed.

Well, what is spydiewiki.com? Spydiewiki is a project of a couple of Spyderco enthusiasts who want to build a database where you can find information on everything Spyderco. Knives, materials, SKUs, variations, trivia – you name it!

The list of contributors is quite small but if you look at the user list you might see some names that are familiar to you if you are active on one of the forums dedicated to Spyderco knives.

The site improved drastically over the past few months and you can already find lots of info there but nevertheless we are still at the beginning. There’s so much more to add and I guess that this project will keep anybody who contributes busy for a long time.

So, what I am trying to say is that if you are looking for certain information about Spyderco knives, you might already be able to retrieve it from spydiewiki.com, and if you have expert knowledge of one or more models (or anything else Spyderco) which is not already covered (might very well be the case), you are kindly invited to share your knowledge. Just visit the Spydiewiki page and you’ll find all the info of how to contribute there.

Technically it’s not as complicated as it looks. The site uses the same software as Wikipedia, so using it is pretty much the same.

I think that spydiewiki.com is a very interesting and promising project that will provide invaluable information for every Spyderco enthusiast out there in a not so far away future. It’s for the benefit of all who are interested in Spyderco knives, so I thought that spreading the word about it might be a good thing ;)

What else? You might have noticed that there were not many updates on my site lately. It’s a quite busy time in my life right now, so this page didn’t get as much attention as it should have but I am already working on an update of my price-guide which should be finished sometime next month. After that there’s still more to come but one thing after another :)

Cheers, Rob

Looks like an interesting project. There are still many things missing but I think it will be a good starting point for anyone who’s looking about info on Spydies once there’s a bit more on than as it is now.

Thank you for taking a look, Chris. Yes, there are still many things missing but with time and effort the “holes” will become smaller and smaller.

As I already said in my initial post: Everybody who likes to share his knowledge – go to spydiewiki.com, take a look, you’ll find all the info necessary for contributing there!

    Cheers, Rob
