Social networking for Spyderco enthusiasts…

10 September, 2009

Well, we all know social networking platforms like Xing or Facebook. We also know internet forums dedicated to a certain topic like knives but social networks for knife enthusiasts? At least I have never heard about something like that – until a couple of days ago.

I just updated my link list with SpydieTalk.com, the (to my knowledge) first and only social network for Spyderco afficionados. I only didn’t really know where to put it, so you can find it under “forums” now. I registered there to take a look around and my impression is that the features of the site are similar to other social networks. You can post pictures and videos, use apps in your profile, write in a forum, etc.

SpydieTalk.com seems to be relatively new so there are not too many members yet, but I think the number will be growing. After all it is an interesting alternative to a classic internet forum which offers a lot more possibilities than the average forum software does. If you’re interested in what’s going on there, take a look…

Customizing your Spyderco knife…

8 September, 2009

If you are thinking that your Spyderco has a boring look or you have one spare left why not have it customized to your likings?

I’ve added two new links to customspyderco.com and cuscadi.de to my link list.

Custom Spyderco ist the site of Roman Pokorny from the Czech Republic. He specialized in customizing Spyderco knives. I found his site through a little detour over another friend and Spyderco collector and after taking a look at Mr. Pokorny’s fantastic work I could not help and ask him if it was OK to place a link to his page on my site.  Just take a look at his excellent work! :D

In the case of  Custom Scale Division they rather found me than vice versa. Some time ago they asked me if they could place a link to my site on theirs but I hesitated to link back to them because I actually never wanted to advertise for anybody in particular. Now that I add links to two similar (but still different) shops, I feel that I am not breaking my own rules ;)

Custom Scale Division is a company based in Germany. They also make custom handles for Spyderco knives and other brands too. Although their scales also look technically excellent, their style is a little bit different than Mr. Pokorny’s. Just take a look at both sites and you’ll see what I mean.

Please post a comment if anyone already has a customized knife from either of them. I would love to hear about it!

Here are quick links to the sites:
