C28PWH added, some updates etc.

18 07 2008

It’s been some time ago since I last updated my website, so now some things come together. First of all I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of my Dragonfly family: The C28PWH sprint-run model:

C28PWH - White handled Dragonfly (2008 sprint-run)

It’s a very nice knife but to be honest, it’s kind of difficult to get accustomed to the white handle when almost all other knives in my collection are either black or SS…

If the picture looks way too bright, please excuse me but my monitor is currently giving up it’s ghost and in connection with this fact it displays everything a bit too dark with no possibility to correct that. I’ll have a look at it on the weekend when I have access to another monitor and see if it needs to be fixed…

Just as a funny sidenote about this sprint-run model: While I was waiting to get my new Dragonfly I was browsing eBay a bit to see if any interesting Spydercos are up for auction. Suddenly one of the gallery pictures for a C28PWH cought my attention because it somehow didn’t look right. When I took a closer look at the auction I found this:

Crazy C28PWH mockup

After asking around if anyone else had seen this crazy mockup picture, I learned that it already had been topic of a discussion on Spyderco’s forums and ( this is the shocking part) that this picture is also in use by a couple of wholesalers. I don’t know where this picture originated but what were they thinking?!? There are plenty of pics of this knife on the web and even on Spyderco’s own website, so why combine the handle of a sprint-run Endura with the blade of the Dragonfly? Even more funny that this pic is still online at mo**ng.com :)

Oh BTW, since the C28PWH was not on my PDF-overview of all Dragonfly models, I added it and the new PDF can be found here (just click on the pic below) aswell as in the download section and in the article about the history of the C28:

I also updated the “pins”-section of my website with something new - a commemorative coin from this year’s Spyderco meeting in Leeds (UK):

Leeds Meeting 2008

What else? In the past couple of months I recieved quite a number of emails from visitors of this site with questions about knives they had, wanted to buy, that needed identification or just general questions about the topic. First of all: Thank you very much for visiting my humble website and getting in contact with me. I always enjoy helping fellow Spyderco enthusiasts if I can. And it’s also good to get some feedback other that seeing the visitor counter going up continously ;-) If you have any questions about this site or need help, please do not hesitate to hit that email-button on the right, or simply post here.

Cheers, Rob

SS Dragonfly & FRN Dragonfly added…

21 02 2008

An another update! This time I’ve added the other two Dragonfly models that I got lately. The first one is the new SS handled model with VG-10 blade:

C28P Dragonfly SS with VG-10 blade

The other one is a C28PBK with the bug on it’s AUS-8 blade. Just as the model that I’ve added yesterday, this one was also only officially around for two years. This years model will also feature a VG-10 blade:

Now the Dragonfly page in my “knives”-section is getting a bit long as it is featuring 8 different models at the moment.

I’ve also added two new pins to my collection: One of the Centofante model that I got from a friend as a present and the other one is a Byrd-Knife pin:

D’Allara & Dragonfly added…

20 02 2008

Some new pictures were long overdue, so here are the first two of a couple that I will add later on this week. The first addition is a C82BKP2 D’Allara Drop-point. Really a nice knife. Too bad it went out of production with the beginning of this year.

The second addition to the collection is a C28P Dragonfly with SS handle and ATS-55 blade. These also do not longer exist and were actually around for only a short time (2006 and 2007).

Info to the FAQ added…

18 02 2008

After Fred, a visitor of my page, commented on my post that I’ve added a FAQ to the site and asked if I knew of a website with all the abbreviations and acronyms used in describing the knives. I didn’t, so I decided to put a list with Spyderco-related acronyms into my FAQ.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. This is one of the occasions where I think “Why didn’t I have the idea?” :-)

Cheers, Rob

A small FAQ about collecting Spyderco knives

FAQ about collecting added…

7 01 2008

I once started to write a small FAQ for my old website but never managed to finish it. A couple of weeks ago I found the text again while digging through some backups and decided to finally finish it. It’s not really much but I think it covers the basics. You can find it in my reviews-section under FAQ about collecting Spyderco knives.
